Beaune promises a substantial effort on the rail

The investment effort in the railway should reach in the coming years the 100 billion euros demanded by the CEO of the SNCF Jean-Pierre Farandou, estimated Tuesday the Minister Delegate for Transport Clément Beaune, for whom “the priority of priorities” goes to the network and daily trains.

When we (will) add up in the coming decade in everyday trains, in Greater Paris trains, in high-speed lines, in the renovation of small lines, in the network, we will frankly, very probably, be this level of investment, assured the minister.

For peri-urban areas, Mr. Beaune is betting on the development of metropolitan RERs such as Strasbourg, Marseille and Lyon.

It also intends to announce measures on return to encourage carpooling.

The Minister also justified the rebates on the price of fuel, even if they are not ecological because according to him many French people have no choice and no alternative on many journeys.
