As soon as it gets colder outside, your skin goes crazy. Pimples, dry spots and redness are among the problems that you can now grapple with again. But help is at hand. Our editor knows how.

1. Clean properly

The secret of beautiful skin isn’t necessarily in what we put on it, but in how we rid it of dirt and sebum. At least since the Clerasil advertisement from the 90s, we all know how blackheads develop: dirt and sebum clog the pores, the skin reacts and we get pimples and other nasty skin irritations. Intensive cleaning is therefore an absolute must! Just like brushing your teeth. Our recommendation: first remove the make-up with cleansing oil or make-up remover wipes and micellar water, then rinse your face thoroughly with lukewarm water and then use a mild cleansing foam. After removing make-up with an AHA or BHA peeling (be careful not to forget the sunscreen the next day!), free the pores of impurities and then care for them with products suitable for your skin type.

2. Change the mask and let it dry

We not only have autumn, but unfortunately also Corona. Wearing mouth and nose protection masks is therefore an additional problem for our skin and causes irritation and pimples on the face. And then the breath condenses really nicely under the mask in the cold season. A feel-good paradise for all sorts of bacteria, the warm, humid climate… Okay, doing without the mask is not an option, so we have to make the best of it by cleaning the mask every day and, above all, letting it dry well before we put it in the pocket. Everything else supports the colonization by bacteria. We do not want. Yuck, yuck.

3. Light protection even when it gets darker

UVA and UVB rays damage our skin. In order to protect it from premature skin aging, it is particularly important to use a day care product with sun protection. And all year round! Because we often protect our skin in summer when the sun is shining, but we are also exposed to the rays outside in autumn and winter, even when the sky is overcast. So please check the day care for the sun protection factor!

4. Do not wear shawls, scarves and the like over your chin

Ladies, now you have to be strong: scarves and shawls are beauty’s number one enemy! Yes, you read that right. Even if there is hardly anything nicer than snuggling up really comfortably in your scarf during the cold season and pulling the thing up to your nose, don’t do it if you want to do something good for your skin. The reason: skin flakes, make-up residue and crumbs get stuck between the fabric fibers. In addition, as with the mask, our breath condenses when we breathe into the scarf and the bacteria celebrate a wild party again. So please wear the scarf under your chin, clean it regularly and avoid skin contact on the chin if possible.

5. Break for the skin

From time to time we should give our skin a break and have a few no-makeup days so that it can breathe deeply. Pampering Sundays with a mask and the like are also particularly good for her. And not just you, us too!
