If you could only have three lipsticks – which would it be? We know this is not an easy decision to make. That’s why we asked a makeup professional for advice.

$ 1,780 – that’s how much a woman spends on lipstick in her lifetime, according to statistics. And with the huge selection of colors that are now available, it is no longer so easy to choose the perfect shade. That’s why we asked Stefanie Schollbach, make-up artist and trainer at IT Cosmetics Germany: Which three lipsticks do each of us need?

Classic statement

Red lipstick is simply a statement – whether in everyday life or in the evening. It goes without saying that, according to Stefanie Schollbach, this should not be missing in any collection:

A classic red should definitely be there. It should have full coverage and a creamy texture so that the texture creates a bit of volume.

According to Stefanie, it is important to pay particular attention to your own skin tone or, for example, which jewelry you prefer to wear yourself. If you enjoy wearing gold jewelry, you might want to go for a shade of red that goes into the warmer, rusty area. If you are very fond of wearing silver jewelry, then you might look for a cherry red or blood red.

Stay natural

Red lipstick is an everyday companion for many women, but not for everyone. Therefore, something subtle should NEVER be missing:

A natural lipstick should also be in the collection, it could also be a little more transparent and nourishing. This makes us feel fresh in everyday life, the eyes shine more and the look is simply completed.

As far as color is concerned, Stefanie Schollbach advises that we should best orientate ourselves on our own skin tone. If it is more rosy, then it makes sense to perhaps choose an old rose. If you have a golden skin tone, you could wear super soft apricot nude tones.

trendsetter

In addition to the classics, we should also deal with the trend colors. “I like to assume that I am – what is the current trend and what do I like to wear right now?” Explains Stefanie. And by trends, we don’t just mean beauty trends, but also fashion trends. For example, a blue-tinged berry shade goes perfectly with the trend color lilac, as well as with the trendy pastel colors.

Of course, a lipstick should always match your own taste exactly. In the end, it won’t do you much good to buy a color that you might find great on others, but doesn’t suit yourself at all.
