More glow, fewer wrinkles, impurities, spots… When it comes to beautiful skin, the Munich dermatologist Dr. Miriam Rehbein on her star active ingredient.

With no skin care products really convincing her, Dr. Miriam Rehbein started her own while studying medicine. Later, the patients found it so good that the dermatologist founded her cosmetics company alongside her work in the practice.

That’s why dermatologist Dr. Miriam Rehbein on retinol

Star ingredient of the care brand “Doctor Mi!”: Retinol, a form of vitamin A. “This is one of the few active ingredients that has been scientifically proven to work: by stimulating cells to be more active, retinol renews and improves any skin,” explains the doctor. “However, it is crucial that it is used and dosed correctly.”

How to use retinol correctly

“The care should definitely contain pure retinol in a concentration of at least one percent,” says the dermatologist. Since the skin first has to get used to the active ingredient and can also react irritated, do not choose a higher dosage for the first four to eight weeks and only use it every other evening. If she is doing well, increase the frequency.

I have developed an encapsulation for my products, with which the retinol is only released in the skin – this is less irritating and more effective.

The reason for this: Vitamins react with the air and evaporate. Because the active ingredient makes you more sensitive to light, always use sun protection during the day. So that retinol can be optimally absorbed, the skin should first be cleaned and peeled – Miriam Rehbein also recommends the latter for every day.

The extra tip from Dr. Miriam Rehbein

Patience! “You can’t get a six-pack after just a few workouts either. With retinol, it takes the skin about eight to twelve weeks to show results.”
