Because of Prince Philips death, the start of the animated series “The Prince” about the British royals has been put on hold for the time being.

As of April 4, writer and producer Gary Janetti (55) still has proudly announced via Instagramthat the satirical animated series “The Prince” about the British royal family will soon be coming to HBO Max. But this plan was postponed indefinitely due to the death of Prince Philip (1921-2021) just five days after the announcement, like the US site “The Hollywood Reporter” has since found out.

Accordingly, it says on the part of the streaming provider: “We were sad to learn of Prince Philip’s death and will adjust the plans for the release of the series.” The new date will be announced promptly, it said. Originally, it was expected to be published by June at the latest.

It is still unclear whether the delay will also result in substantive changes. The first pictures for the series “The Prince”, in which Prince William (38) and Duchess Kates (39) eldest son George (7) is the main character, showed Prince Philip in a less than favorable appearance. Incidentally, the series’ voicecast has a prominent cast: Janetti himself speaks the little George, the two “Game of Thrones” stars Sophie Turner (25) and Iwan Rheon (35) lend Princess Charlotte (6) and Prince William their voices. Condola Rashad (34) speaks to Duchess Meghan (39), Orlando Bloom (44) her husband Prince Harry (36) and Lucy Punch (43) Duchess Kate (39).
