- The strike announced for Wednesday at Lufthansa is also affecting the subsidiary Swiss.
- The Swiss airline is canceling a dozen flights.
- Around 1,000 passengers are affected, as Swiss spokeswoman Karin Montani said on Tuesday when asked by the AWP news agency.
Specifically, Swiss canceled the flights from Geneva to Frankfurt (3 return flights) and Zurich to Düsseldorf (3 return flights). “Swiss informs its passengers about the flight cancellations and looks for possible alternatives,” explained Montani. On the day after the strike, on Thursday, Swiss will fly to Düsseldorf in a larger plane to carry more passengers to their destination.
The flights operated by Lufthansa from Zurich to Frankfurt and Munich were also canceled due to the strike. The Swiss spokeswoman could not say how many passengers were affected.
Lufthansa itself canceled almost the entire program at its German hubs in Frankfurt and Munich because of the warning strike by the Verdi union on Wednesday. The company said there would be flight cancellations this Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. A total of more than 1,000 flights are said to be canceled, affecting 134,000 passengers.
