The professional association Horizon Jeu Vidéo Île-de-France is launching a free training course to become a video game tester. It is intended for young people aged 18 to 25 and has a view to professional integration.

This is a great initiative led by Horizon Jeu Vidéo, a professional association created by companies in the sector in France. The objective is to support a sector which is struggling to recruit in France and which advocates values such as co-education, diversity, humility and benevolence. The organization has just launched training in the profession of video game tester, which 25 young people from Paris or Seine-Saint-Denis will be able to take advantage of for free.

A free and paid training that will last 7 months…

This training, called Future in Play: Become a video game tester », therefore aims to help young people enter the professional market. It was launched by the Horizon Jeu Vidéo Île-de-France team in response to the 2021 Regional Skills Investment Pact launched by the Ile-de-France region. This initiative promised a grant of between 200,000 and 2 million euros for any project that could demonstrate real training and skills acquisition capacities.

There was no reason for the video game not to be part of it. The training offered by Horizon Jeu Vidéo, free of charge, is delivered to young people aged 18 to 25 who are having difficulty finding work or school, that is to say who are not in a situation of study, employment or of training. They can also be non-bachelors or former students who stopped their license or other training along the way.

Young people will be paid during this training, scheduled to last 7 months, between October and next May, in the premises of the School of the second chance (E2C) in Paris.

… to issue QA tester certification to 25 young Ile-de-France residents

To set up this training, Horizon Jeu Vidéo Île-de-France has brought together the historical players in the training of the video game sector in order to develop a professional program. This must lead to the issuance of a professional QA tester certificate, the remuneration of a junior of which is around 26,000 euros, according to estimates delivered by the National Video Game Syndicate in 2020.

The association has managed to surround itself with solid partners to form its educational consortium. In addition to Horizon Jeu Vidéo for the piloting and management of the project, and EC2 Paris for the support and coaching of young people, the teaching and design of the Business training will be provided by ISART Digital, a higher education institution private sector present in Paris, Nice and Montreal.

The Play in Lab company, which does playtesting on real players, quality assurance testing to hunt bugs and data analysis to study player behavior, will support the teaching and design of Discovery training. Finally, the Cnam-Enjmin, public school of video game trades, will carry out consulting and certification missions.
