fun, news, tips … what else?

But where do the French most often store their sex toys? A study has revealed our habits in this area.

While in 2001, only 7% of French people – men and women combined – regularly used a sextoy, today the situation has changed: 50% of men and 52% of women say they have passed the milestone. Far from being only the prerogative of singles, sex toys are used more with couples (46% have already used two and 34% alone). However, the subject is still relatively taboo. Only 42% of the people questioned declared having already spoken about it to a very good friend, 14% to a member of his family and… 5% to his parents. Either, we can understand!

Who says a still taboo subject, says hiding place to store them away from curious eyes (but also children!). But where do we hide our sextoys? To answer this question, the Ifop institute, commissioned by the Passage du Désir site, interviewed some 2012 people, owners of one or more sex toys, in order to find out where our naughty toys are most often stored.

Bedroom, bathroom, kitchen … our sex toys are everywhere

For the most part, we keep our sextoyx (s)… close at hand! Unsurprisingly, the Ifop study reveals the bedside table remains the privileged place to store his intimate toy (s). The drawer of this small piece of furniture stuck to the bed seems indeed the ideal place to keep it discreetly. Of the 2012 people questioned, nearly a third (31%) slip their sex toy into this hiding place. Just behind it is the dressing room who is preferred (25% of respondents).

It is then that the hiding places are sometimes surprising, sometimes … curious. 5% slip their sextoys under their pillow, 6% of them store in the bathroom and 1% admit to storing their intimate toy in… the kitchen ! Proof that the subject is still taboo, 25% of people questioned said they no longer knew where their sex toy was stored.

Still, the hiding place is not always the best found. Indeed, as part of its study, Ifop reveals that more than 25% of people questioned have already come across the sextoy of a loved one (whether it is their partner, a friend, their brother or sister or even their parents).

This Ifop study was carried out by self-administered online questionnaire from November 27 to 30, 2020 with a sample of 2,012 people representative of the population aged 18 and over living in mainland France.
