Helen Mirren reacted to one of the highlights of the 2023 Oscars ceremony: the speech of Michelle Yeoh, who received her first Oscar at 60 for her role in Everything Everywhere All At Once.

Michelle Yeoh exclaimed on stage, when receiving her award, at age 60: “Don’t let anyone tell you that you’ve had your day, that you’re no longer fresh!”
Just before, she had emphasized the importance of representation: “To all the little boys and girls looking like me, this is a beacon of hope. It’s proof that when you dream big, dreams can come true.”

Very moved, the Malaysian actress thus becomes the first Asian woman to lift the statuette for Best Actress, three years after the prize for Best Supporting Actor was awarded to South Korean Youn Yuh-jung (Minari).
A surprise hit from 2022, Everything Everywhere All at Once plunges the viewer into a fantastical and surprising multiverse, following in the footsteps of the multiple potential lives of its heroine as she tries to avoid the explosion of her family. Crowned with seven Oscars, including Best Film, the feature film was released in French cinemas.
