In 2021, Ella Purnell (Lucy) lent her voice to the character of Jinx (Powder) in the animated series “Arcane” distributed by Netflix. Applauded by critics, it takes place in the same universe as the League of Legends games.
If you didn’t know about Ella Purnell before watching Fallout on Prime Video, now you do. The 27-year-old actress made everyone agree by playing Lucy, a young woman full of determination who decides to leave her fallout shelter to look for her father on the surface.
Even if it is a character created from scratch by the screenwriters, the young woman evolves in a universe well known to video game players since it is the adaptation of a successful franchise. And in this category, Ella Purnell is not her first attempt.
League of Legends x Netflix
In 2021, the British actress was chosen to lend her voice to one of the main characters in the animated series Arcane. The latter, in development for several years by publisher Riot Games, takes place in the same universe as League of Legends. It follows the story of two sisters, Vi and Jinx/Powder, who fight in a war where magical technologies and diametrically opposed perspectives rage.
Ella Purnell is Jinx (also called Powder), a young Zaunite criminal who is one of the antagonists. Without being the real villain of the story, the latter is especially seduced by the dark side and ends up joining the bad side where she will fight her sister.
With a substantial budget of $60 to $80 million for just 6 episodes, Arcane is a gem of animation, using innovative processes to bring the world of Runeterra to life. The press and Netflix subscribers were unanimous: with an excellent rating of 4.6 out of 5 on AlloCiné, it is one of the best animated series of recent years.

While they praised the attention to detail and technique of the animators, the journalists also praised the dubbing work carried out by the actors, who managed to bring depth and emotion to their respective characters. In addition to Ella Purnell, the cast of Arcane also includes Hailee Steinfeld, Kevin Alejandro and Katie Leung (Harry Potter).
