Before Nvidia RTX 5000: New production plans – That’s why prices for the 4000 series could soon rise sharply

Nvidia has not yet announced a new generation of graphics cards, but the company is said to be already preparing for the release of the RTX 5000 series.

At least that’s what Tweaktown reports based on a Taiwanese article from the UDN website. There is talk that Nvidia has reduced the production of high-end graphics cards in the RTX 4000 series by up to 50 percent.

There could be rising prices and supply bottlenecks for graphics cards from the RTX 4070 and up to the RTX 4090. The Founders Editions, which you can buy directly from Nvidia, are likely to be excluded from this.

Of course, Nvidia has not yet confirmed this information. However, if the RTX 5000 series does indeed appear in 2024, as some leakers predict, it seems only logical that Nvidia will reduce production of the older models.

By the time the new generation of graphics cards is released, retailers’ warehouses would no longer be full of the old generation and, due to delivery bottlenecks, some buyers could resort directly to the new high-end models.

This speaks against the leak

However, what speaks against this leak is that Nvidia is also said to be reducing production of the RTX 4070. As the past has shown, the xx70 model of the previous series is roughly comparable to the xx60 model of the new generation.

However, these usually only appear months after the high-end models have been released. Accordingly, there would be a bottleneck in the mid-price segment, which could then benefit AMD.
