Before the Euro-League-Match – Hooligans destroyed local: aftermath in court

One day before the Europa League match Sturm against Eindhoven in 2021, masked people devastated the “Molly Malone” pub in the city of Graz. Two men are now charged.

On September 29 of the previous year, Herwig Derler, head of the popular Graz pub “Molly Malone” on Färberplatz, looked stunned at his bar – or what was left of it: around 30 hooded storm hooligans had met one day before Europa League game against PSV Einhoven to attack the celebrating Dutch fans. Armchairs, tables, bottles, glasses – they threw everything they could get their hands on at people in front of the bar, then they even threw the objects through the already smashed windows and doors. Damage: 7700 euros! “Schäger” not yet investigatedThe police arrested four men during the following large-scale operation. Two of them (33, 25) now have to answer in court. Because they “encouraged the unknown perpetrators to carry out their crime with their ready presence and cheering,” as stated in the criminal complaint of the Graz public prosecutor’s office. This means that they were present, but did not throw objects. The “thugs” have not yet been exposed. For defense attorney Raimund Hofmann – he is defending the first accused – the criminal complaint is too thin, his client has nothing to do with the crime. A trial date has not yet been set.
