Before tomorrow’s Corona summit: Other countries are already tightening the rules

Before tomorrow’s Corona summit
Other countries are already tightening the rules

Who is tightening up, who is waiting for the corona summit? One day before the Prime Minister’s Conference (MPK) between the federal government and the federal states, new corona rules come into force in some federal states. In North Rhine-Westphalia there is again a mask requirement in schools, in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania Christmas markets are allowed to remain open and in Lower Saxony warning level 2 now applies. The overview.

North Rhine-Westphalia

As a result of the high number of new corona infections, North Rhine-Westphalia wants to close clubs and discos. This was announced by Prime Minister Hendrik Wüst of the CDU in a special session of the Düsseldorf state parliament. Further concrete measures are to be implemented after the MPK tomorrow, Thursday. Football games with over 50,000 spectators who did not wear masks would no longer take place, said Wüst. At major events, capacities would be limited. Nevertheless, the state will probably forego ghost games in the Bundesliga. Health Minister Karl-Josef Laumann told ntv: “We have agreed in the government that we will now limit the capacity of the stadiums to a third. No more standing room, everything on seats and then we think that is justifiable.”

In addition, the state government decided that starting tomorrow, Thursday, all students will have to wear a mask at their seat again. Only on the outside of the schools is there basically no mask requirement as before, according to a message. The mask at the seat also applies again to all-day and care offers and to all other meetings in the school, such as conferences and committee meetings, if a minimum distance of 1.50 meters cannot be maintained. With the reintroduction of the mask requirement, which was only abolished in class at the beginning of November, face-to-face teaching should be secured.

Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania

In view of the high number of infections and increasing stress on clinics from Covid 19 patients, Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania is also pulling the reins. From today, stricter corona protective measures apply nationwide. The contact options for unvaccinated people are noticeably restricted. According to the Corona state ordinance, only five unvaccinated people from two households are allowed to come together indoors, and ten outdoors. Vaccinated, convalescent and children under the age of 14 are not included. Prime Minister Manuela Schwesig of the SPD appealed to all citizens of the country to voluntarily limit contacts in order to reduce the risk of infection.

The Christmas markets can remain open. However, as before when visiting restaurants or the theater, the 2G plus rule now also applies there. According to this, only those who have been vaccinated and who have recovered with an additional negative corona test are given access. In large areas of the retail trade, only those who have been vaccinated and those who have recovered are allowed in. Exceptions apply to shops for basic needs such as supermarkets, pharmacies, bookstores, petrol stations and hardware stores. Before Christmas shopping in technology markets or fashion boutiques is no longer allowed for those who have not been vaccinated.

In addition, the state government reduced the number of participants for events due to the high number of new infections and the large number of corona clinic patients. A maximum of 200 people are allowed to come together indoors and up to 1000 outdoors. From now on, a spectator limit of 1000 also applies to the second division soccer team Hansa Rostock. Originally, a maximum of 7250 was envisaged.

Lower Saxony

Warning level 2 comes into force in Lower Saxony today, Wednesday. This means that in many places it is no longer enough to be fully vaccinated or recovered. According to the state government, a negative test is also necessary for many areas of public life. This applies to indoor areas in restaurants, events with more than 1000 people in the indoor area, hotels or body-hugging services such as hairdressers or cosmetic studios. As a rule, children and young people under the age of 18 do not have to test themselves because they already do this often in their everyday school life.

In a few districts in the state, 2G plus has not yet been achieved due to the corona infection situation. However, this does not necessarily mean that these regions do not also impose stricter measures.

Hesse

Hessen has increased the fines for violations of corona rules, in some cases significantly. Anyone who violates the mask requirement, for example as a customer, patient or passenger, will have to pay 100 euros in the future, as the new regulation shows. So far, 50 euros were due. If a visitor or guest provides incorrect or incomplete information about contact tracing, there is a risk of a fine of 200 euros – instead of the previous 100 euros. If someone receives a visit despite the quarantine being ordered, this can be punished with a fine of 500 euros. The new catalog of fines has been in effect since November 25th. Other violations of corona rules can also be expensive: anyone who violates the 3G rule on public buses and trains, for example, will be asked to pay 100 euros.

Baden-Wuerttemberg

As of today, the yellow vaccination book in Baden-Württemberg is no longer sufficient in all areas in which proof of the corona vaccination status is required. Proof of vaccination in digital form is required. But people can also show their QR code printed out on paper, which can then be read out. The QR code is on the vaccination certificate. You can get it printed out at the time of vaccination or on presentation of the yellow vaccination pass at the pharmacy. The code can be read in with the Corona warning app or the CovPass app. People who do not have a smartphone can show the hard copy.

Bremen

Werder Bremen football fans also have to expect restrictions. Due to the current corona situation, only season ticket holders are allowed into the stadium for the last home game of the season. 27,000 fans have the opportunity to watch the game in the 2nd Bundesliga against Erzgebirge Aue (Friday, 6.30 p.m. / Sky and in the ntv.de live ticker). “But we are assuming that due to the sales figures and the experience with games that are kicked off at 6.30 pm, the stadium will only be about half full,” said a spokesman. The Bremer Wohninvest Weserstadion offers a total of 42,100 seats. The game is played under 2G rules. There will also be a mask requirement in VIP areas and a mask recommendation in all other areas. The club had already declared that it would not allow spectators from the high incidence regions of Saxony, Thuringia and Bavaria. This will not be fans of the Saxon table-15. be allowed to attend the game.

In Hamburg, 2G will apply in retail from Saturday, in Hesse only vaccinated and convalescent people are allowed to go shopping from Sunday: You can read here which federal states have tightened their corona measures yesterday.
