We take a look at the top 10 best-selling electric cars in 2023 in France, a record year!

In 2023, the electric car market will represent no less than 17% of total new car sales in France. In total, 298,592 electric vehicles were sold in the territory, according to data communicated by the Automotive Platform (PFA), out of a total of 1.77 million sales.

A podium made up of Tesla… and Dacia

It’s a fact, France recorded a record number of electric car registrations in 2023. At the top of sales, we find the now indispensable Tesla Model Y, with a total of 37,127 new examples sold in the country in 2023.

On the second step of the podium, it is the Dacia Spring which takes its place, with just under 30,000 sales, ahead of the Tesla Model 3, whose sales (24,539 copies) were boosted by various price reductions and the launch of the new model.

The Tesla Model Y also in the lead at the end of 2024?

Also note the good (fourth) position of the small Fiat 500e, closely followed by the Peugeot e-208 and the Chinese MG4.

In seventh position, we find the Renault Megane E-Tech, followed by the Renault Twingo, the electric Mini and finally the Renault ZOE.

The best-selling electric cars in France in 2023:

During the year 2024, the French Citroën could do well in the electric market, with the highly anticipated launch of the small ë-C3.

Conversely, the various models manufactured in China (including the Dacia Spring) could suffer from exclusion from the bonus, because of this same Chinese manufacturing, which is one of the new criteria identified by the new 2024 ecological bonus.

For the record, in 2023, 641,588 gasoline vehicles were sold in France. Certainly, market share fell very slightly, but sales nevertheless increased by 29.6%.
