It seemed unlikely and yet they did. The 14th season of Beijing Express is indeed coming back to our screens. The broadcast date is scheduled for Tuesday 23 February 2021, at 9:05 p.m., on M6, still with Stéphane Rotenberg as conductor. This edition, baptized "On the slopes of Terre Rouge", had a more than eventful shoot. And that is just an understatement. Production began filming on March 5, 2020, in the midst of a pandemic, as the world began to lock in. The sixteen candidates were then in Uganda, Africa. They then had to continue the adventure in Ethiopia, in the United Arab Emirates before ending up in Dubai, lands that the adventure game had not yet explored. But, as a precaution, the decision was taken to repatriate everyone, to France, from mid-March, with three episodes already in a box.
An itinerary completely upset by the pandemic
It's only six months later, in September 2020, that filming was able to resume with a modification in the route initially planned. Finally, change of course. It is no longer in Africa that everything is restarting but in Greece, then in Turkey, where a terrible accident on the set left one dead and several injured. Finally, the last stage was shot in its capital, Istanbul. All the candidates have resumed the path of adventure, with their famous red backpack. To guarantee their safety, a strict sanitary protocol has been put in place, such as regular tests to avoid any cluster.
Eight pairs will compete against each other with stop and trials. As always, the duets are very different from each other. Viewers will discover Christophe and Claire, father and daughter, Florent and Christmas, Catalan colleagues, Pierre-Louis and Arnaud, the brothers of Lot-et-Garonne, Crisoula and Jenny, the Belgian aunt and niece, Aurore and Jonathan, the couple from Pas-de-Calais, Kaoutar and Nour, mother and daughter, Rose-Marie and Cinzia, the two girlfriends, and finally, the pair of strangers, without whom Beijing Express would not Beijing Express, composed of Sabine and Loïc.
A little novelty in this unprecedented season: an advantage will be granted to two candidates, during the first stage, in Uganda. It's about the "bonus car". It will allow a pair to benefit from a car with a driver, for two hours. A great asset when you know that it's a race against time. To complete the evening, M6 offers Alternative route. Fans of the program will have the pleasure of reviewing Fabrice and Briac, the pair of strangers from season 12. A beautiful evening of adventure in perspective, just to travel a little.
