LONDON (Reuters) – Belarus has no plans to take part in Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine but is sending five battalion tactical groups to the border as part of its force rotation there, the chief said on Saturday. of the Belarusian army, Viktor Gulevitch.

A Ukrainian official warned Belarus on Friday against sending troops to Ukraine, as the country is already serving as a rear base for Russian intervention in Ukrainian territory.

“I want to emphasize that the transfer of troops is in no way connected with (any) preparation, and especially not with the participation of Belarusian soldiers in the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine,” Viktor said. Gulevitch.
