Belarus denies any plans to participate in Russian offensive in Ukraine

LONDON (Reuters) – Belarus has no plans to participate in Russia’s military offensive in Ukraine but is sending five battalion tactical groups to the border as part of a rotation of its forces there, the head of the country said on Saturday. Belarusian Army General Staff, Viktor Goulevitch.

A Ukrainian official warned Bilorussia on Friday against sending troops to Ukraine, as the country is already serving as a rear base for Russian intervention on Ukrainian territory.

“I wish to emphasize that the transfer of troops is in no way linked (the slightest) preparation, and particularly not the participation of Belarusian soldiers in the special military operation on the territory of Ukraine,” said Viktor Goulevitch.
