Little is said about this third actor in the war in Ukraine. However, major changes have taken place in Belarus since the end of February.

VS’is a battalion of volunteers which the media have not yet spoken about but which is growing from week to week, engaged alongside the Ukrainians: the Kalinowski battalion. They are already 400, they will soon be 1,000. The silence on this Belarusian battalion illustrates well the little regard that is made of a country that is nevertheless at the forefront, which plays a major role in the war by offering its territory, its railroad tracks, its hospitals to Russia. As a European diplomat expert in the region points out, “the war in Ukraine must not evade Belarus, which is a key element of the equation”.
