Oral French mistakes would have consequences on your heart. This is what reveals a study published in the journal “Journal of Neurolinguistics”, which highlights that each mistake disrupts the beating of your vital organ.
“They believe”, “Manon’s father”, etc… What if French mistakes also had consequences on your heart? In addition to offending some ears, a study published in the journal Journal of Neurolinguistics reveals that grammatical mistakes can have a negative impact on the heart.
The experiment was carried out by a researcher who was himself very annoyed by grammatical errors. To find out if this exasperation leads to a physical reaction, the participants then listened to 40 sentences in English, half of which contained errors.
“An abnormality”
As a result, sometimes, when listening to a typo, the heart “skips” a beat, the heart rate shifts. For what ? Quite simply because our brain does not expect to hear such an error, which results in a sort of surprise effect. “The brain works through a predictive mechanism, that is to say that we make predictions about the world on a daily basis, very automatically. And we will constantly compare the prediction we have made to what “we perceive,” explains psychiatrist Anton Iftimovici on Europe 1.
“When there are errors compared to what we predicted, this error will be perceived as an anomaly by the brain,” he continues. And with the French’s level of grammar, your heart is still malfunctioning. According to a recent IFOP survey, only 6 out of 10 French people obtained at least 12 out of 20 on a spelling test.
