The model Bella Hadid is said to have made anti-Semitic statements at a demonstration. This is causing criticism from the Israeli government.

The participation of the US model Bella Hadid (24) in a demonstration in the United States, during which she is alleged to have expressed herself anti-Semitic, is causing criticism from the Israeli government. According to a tweet on Israel’s official Twitter account Hadid advocated “throwing Jews into the sea”. It goes on to say: “This should not be an Israeli-Palestinian matter. This should be a human matter. Shame on you.”

She stands by her “brothers and sisters”

Hadid is the daughter of a Jordanian-American real estate agent of Palestinian descent. In the past few days, she made several statements on the Middle East conflict. Most recently she published several pictures of the demonstration and wrote, among other things: “It is ‘Free Palestine’ until Palestine is free.”

Hadid published, among other things, a picturewhich she is showing at a protest in London in late 2017. “Four years ago … it was always #freepalestine,” she writes, among other things. She stands by her Palestinian “brothers and sisters” and wants to “protect and support them as best I can”. Before that, she also made it clear: “Hate from both sides is not okay – I don’t approve of that!” It’s about humanity and not about religion.

About a week ago the Middle East conflict escalated again after days of unrest. Palestinian militants have been firing rockets at Israel since Monday evening. The Israeli Air Force, for its part, flies attacks on targets in the Gaza Strip.
