Belle and Sébastien, the adventure continues: why didn’t Nicolas Vanier direct this sequel?

On the occasion of the broadcast of the film Belle and Sébastien: the adventure continues on Sunday February 20, 2022, from 9:05 p.m. on W9, Télé Star reveals why Nicolas Vanier did not return behind the camera in this sequel.

Released in cinemas in 2015, the movie called Belle and Sébastien: the adventure continuesworn by Felix Bossuet, Tcheky Karyo and Thierry Neuvicwill be rebroadcast on Sunday February 20, 2022, from 9:05 p.m. on W9. Directed by Christian Duguaythis feature film is the sequel to the film Belle and Sebastian, released in theaters 2 years earlier. We are in September 1945, the Second World War is over. Still interpreted by Félix Bossuetthe character of Sébastien is now 10 years old, and still lives in Saint-Martin with Belle and César, again interpreted by Tchéky Karyo. They’re all anxiously awaiting Angelina’s return, once again played by Margaux Chatelierbut the latter does not return.

She disappeared in a plane crash over the alpine forests. They are now the only ones who still have hope of finding her.. César knows a man who could help them: the aviator Pierre, embodied by Thierry Neuvic. Belle and Sébastien will have to face new dangers, go through new trials and face a secret that could change their lives forever. At the controls of the first film, Nicolas Vanier gave up his place behind the camera to Christian Duguay for this sequel. In fact, the scenario writer could not ensure the direction of this 2nd opus, because he wanted to devote himself to his project Solognewhich tells the story of a young city dweller orphaned by his mother and sent by his father to live in the countryside.

Belle and Sébastien, the adventure continues: Christian Duguay was unaware of the existence of the first film

During the promotion of Belle and Sébastien: the adventure continues, Christian Duguay had explained that he did not know that a first part had been shot when his agent told him that the producers of the film wanted to meet him. In contrast, he was very familiar with the series whose first feature film was the cinematic adaptation. It is the ode to nature, and the sensitive revelation of the psychology of the little boy embodied by Félix Bossuet, which pushed the filmmaker to embark on the adventure of this sequel.
