Benedict Cumberbatch: an armed man bursts into his home, his three terrified children

A terrifying scene. Benedict Cumberbatch and his family lived a real nightmare. Indeed, the former head of a luxury hotel, named Jack Bissel, entered his home armed with a knife. The 35-year-old man passed through the garden gate, before ripping the intercom off the wall. He then made his way into the garden and then into the actor’s property, located in London. The individual allegedly made serious threats. “I know you moved here, hope it burns”. At the time of the events, Benedict Cumberbatch, his wife Sophie Hunter and their three young children were in the house and the man could be heard shouting insults.

The man ripped up one of the family’s plants and threw it against the garden wall, spat on the intercom and ripped it open with a fish knife. A source said: “Understandably the whole family was absolutely terrified and thought this guy was going to come in and hurt them. Luckily it never got that far. Benedict and Sophie have had many sleepless nights since fearing they might be targeted. The fact that it was a targeted intrusion makes it that much scarier.”

The individual pleaded guilty

The man later fled the actor’s house but was arrested by the police thanks to his DNA present on the intercom. He was sentenced to a three-year restraining order prohibiting him from approaching the Cumberbatch family and the area in which they live. Prosecutors said before targeting the Sherlock star’s home, the individual bought two packs of pita bread from a nearby shop and yelled at the shopkeeper that he was going to break into Cumberbatch’s house and burn it. He pleaded guilty and was sentenced on May 10, but gave no explanation for his actions.
