Benjamin Daviet wins silver in middle distance cross-country skiing

Frenchman Benjamin Daviet won silver in middle distance cross-country skiing (standing category) on Saturday at the Paralympic Winter Games in Beijing. The 32-year-old Haut-Savoyard, native of Annecy, was overtaken by the Chinese Wang Chenyang on the slopes of the northern site of Zhangjiakou.

“I’m really happy with this silver medal. I think I didn’t have the crazy feelings I had yesterday. I was a bit tired after a complicated night”said Benjamin Daviet. “I’m having a good race (…) I don’t miss anything at all, it must be three or four centimeters away. That’s how it is, it’s sport, you can’t win everything either. »

France 4and in the standings

French flag bearer at the opening ceremony, Benjamin Daviet had already won the Paralympic title in sprint cross-country skiing on Wednesday, before winning gold in individual long-distance biathlon on Friday. He will still compete on Sunday, the last day of the Beijing Paralympic Games, in the cross-country ski relay.

“We are always transcended on the relay”said the sportsman. “There, we have a solid team (…) All the staff is at the top. We’re really going to tear our guts out to get this medal. »

France now has ten medals (including six gold). She keeps her 4and place in the country ranking.
