The Disney+ platform unveiled last night during its D23 convention a first trailer for its “Benjamin Gates” series, following the famous adventure franchise of the 2000s with Nicolas Cage.
The Benjamin Gates series is unveiled, or rather the National Treasure series as it is better called. The new Disney+ production indeed takes up the original title of the films Benjamin Gates and the Treasure of the Templars and Benjamin Gates and the Book of Secrets following the adventures of a modern-day Indiana Jones. In this new version, the hero played by Nicolas Cage becomes a heroine: Jess Valenzuela, played by Lisette Alexis.
Entitled National Treasure: Edge of History, this series was designed as a spin-off of the two previous films, as evidenced by the return of former FBI agent Peter Sadusky, again played by Harvey Keitel. As for her newcomer to the franchise, Catherine Zeta-Jones will lend her features to a ruthless woman, expected as the big villain of the series.
“When I heard they were going to bring the franchise back, I knew right away that I wanted to be a part of it. I’m a treasure hunter myself, so I was looking forward to diving into the action and mystery with this all-new release. And while we may have a whole new cast, expect to bump into some old familiar faces!” notably declared the Welsh actress on the stage of the D23.
Nicolas Cage, the interpreter of Benjamin Gates, could he appear in this spin-off series? Although unlikely, the news does not seem impossible to us. In the absence of an official announcement, it will therefore be necessary to be patient before hoping to meet the actor in the credits of this new version of the National Treasure adventure saga, expected soon on the Disney + platform!
