Benjamin Griveaux breaks the silence on his sextape and his “husband and father’s anger”


Two years after the broadcast of his intimate videos, Benjamin Griveaux agreed to come back to the scandal. The former secretary of state recounts his feelings, his pain and his anger.

Two years later, Benjamin Griveaux is still so marked. Withdrawn from political life since his abortive candidacy for mayor of Paris, the former secretary of state spoke of the scandal. As a reminder, in early 2020, activist Piotr Pavlenski posted a sexual video of Benjamin Griveaux. A sextape he agreed to talk about in the documentary Five years, broadcast on January 16 on France 5. Face camera, Benjamin Griveaux returned to the day his intimate videos leaked and explains in particular with understood “immediately that the campaign stops”. “I am not announcing it yet but it is obvious that I will not be able to continue to apply”, he confides in particular, according to HuffPost.

Benjamin Griveaux also remembers the “very great violence” that he experienced during the exhibition of his intimate videos, sent to Alexandra de Taddeo, a woman with whom he had a relationship. “The first reaction is anger against myself. I obviously lacked vigilance. That is the anger of the politician, adds the former government spokesperson. And then there was the wrath of the husband and father of three children, that one, I would keep to myself. “ When withdrawing his candidacy for mayor of Paris, it was also his family that Benjamin Griveaux had wanted to talk about. “As far as I’m concerned, I don’t want to expose myself and my family any more when all the blows are allowed. It goes too far.”, he assured in front of the cameras.

Two years after the scandal, Benjamin Griveaux deciphers “the absolute violence to which political opponents are ready to destroy the private life, the person and not the ideas of the people” : “What is unacceptable and what, I believe, the French in their vast majority will never accept”. Since then, he left the political world and gave up his post of deputy. It is now in the private sector that the former Secretary of State flourishes since he has created a strategy consulting firm dedicated to business leaders. “I won’t hide from you that I hesitated, because going to the other side of the mirror is a bet, he confided to the JDD. But one thing is certain: this show is fully in line with my consulting activity with business leaders. “ For several months, he has also been on the air for the economic news channel B Smart.
