On the red carpet of the Italian film festival, the French director appeared wearing a beautiful navy blue suit and a white open-collar shirt, no tie. But he unfortunately could not compete with his sublime wife. Bérénice Bejo, who plays one of the main roles in her companion’s film, appeared in a magnificent sequined skirt in fluid and light material. For many years, Bérénice Bejo and Michel Hazanavicius have indeed lived a beautiful love story. The actress and the filmmaker are also parents of two children, born in June 2008 and September 2011. A couple in the city, they are also on stage, the filmmaker never failing to have his companion play in his cities. Guest on the show En aparté, on Canal + last May, Michel Hazanavicius had made a beautiful statement about his wife. “All directors will tell you the same thing about working with Bérénice. She is an actress who is very demanding, who works a lot. She’s a very good actress, who pushes you to go further, who pushes you to work harder, who always pulls you up, who has no misplaced ego”he confided.
Madly in love with his wife, the filmmaker added: “For me, working with Bérénice is truly a joy. She’s really an actress that I love.” During this interview, he also took the opportunity to reveal a regret about his couple. “I wouldn’t have liked us not to be together, but as a director, it’s true that I would have liked to have this meeting with this actress without us being together. In the end, I find that for her, it would have been better”, he admitted. And to add:There is a somewhat reductive side to saying: ‘she works with her husband’ or ‘he works with his wife’. We are also at the moment when we are making a film, a director and she is an actress. And we’re not just lovers or a couple.”
