The lifeless body of this newborn male had been found on Friday afternoon by a maintenance worker in the toilet bowl for people with reduced mobility at Bergerac station, where blood and the placenta were also found. . According to the prosecution, the young mother, originally from Dordogne, confided in relatives on Monday and the authorities were then alerted, leading to her arrest on Tuesday. The prosecution accuses his companion, presented by the young woman as the father of the child, of not having prevented the crime and of not having assisted the little victim. The two defendants have no criminal record, according to the prosecution.
On Tuesday, the first conclusions of the autopsy showed that the newborn was “born alive”, “without signs of excessive prematurity”, and had “breathed”. This examination had also made it possible to determine that the death was not due to a “traumatic cause” but to “acute cardiorespiratory failure” of unknown origin, in “a context of submersion”.
