“Berghain” – Berlin’s most famous club is open again

More than a year and a half after the start of the corona pandemic and the subsequent lockdowns, the nightlife in Berlin has returned. The most famous club in the German capital, the “Berghain” in the Friedrichshain district, has been celebrating for the first time since March 2020 since Sunday night – the so-called club night should continue uninterrupted until Monday. A joint DJ appearance by Berghain greats Ben Klock and Marcel Dettmann was expected.

Several hundred people stood in the usual long queue on Saturday evening and on Sunday night in front of the entrance to the huge old concrete building, which was a district heating plant in GDR times. As in many pubs, a check was carried out at the entrance to see whether the visitors had been vaccinated or were considered to have recovered. During the summer months it was only allowed to dance in the open air in the summer garden of the “Berghain”, while inside the art exhibition “Studio Berlin” could be seen. Other well-known techno clubs have also reopened in Berlin.
