Bernard Tapie and his wife Dominique had a terrible experience during the Easter weekend, on the night of Saturday 3 to Sunday 4 April 2021: around half past midnight, four hooded men broke into their home located in Combs-la-Ville, in Seine-et-Marne, in order to rob them. Present on site during the home jacking, Bernard and Dominique Tapie weretied up with electric cables and beaten by criminals, who were looking for valuables. The four thieves, who managed to break into the house through a window by evading surveillance cameras, did not find the safe they were looking for (and which never existed), but ended up steal a Rolex, a ring, earrings and bracelets. During the burglary, the mafrats were particularly violent towards Dominique Tapie, as explained by his stepson Stéphane Tapie in Do not touch My TV Monday, April 5, 2021: “They were dragging her into the house by the hair, yelling at her to show where the safe was, which unfortunately isn’t there. And every time she answered ‘no’, she took one. “
The former OM leader, who suffers from double cancer of the stomach, esophagus and a brain tumor, has agreed to speak in an interview with Release Thursday April 6, 2021. “They punched my wife in the face, me strapped to a chair. She was screaming. I went through this episode as if I was personally being hit.”, he remembered, still in shock. Despite the circumstances and his fragile state of health, the 78-year-old businessman, who received “a baton on the head”, did not agree to stay in the hospital. His wife Dominque was hospitalized in Fontainebleau, but her condition did not require more serious care. The Tapie couple took refuge in their Parisian accommodation to recover from their emotions.

The shock photos of their injuries, which were broadcast in the media, shocked the French. With hindsight, Bernard Tapie analyzed the situation: “They were violent for two reasons: 1) they were surely disappointed with what they were able to steal on the spot, not up to their expectations 2) for the simple pleasure of hurting us “, he explained to Release. The four perpetrators of this attack have not yet been found. They were “helmets, hoods, boots”, according to Bernard Tapie who found them “damn seasoned”. “It could have ended a lot worse”, he also said.
