YB had to wait 7 long games since February 26 before being able to achieve a full success again in the Super League. In the 3-1 home win against a Servette, who was pale for long stretches, the reigning champions had an easy time.

Miroslav Stevanovic provided a rare highlight from the Servettiens’ point of view in the 90th minute: His assist to goal scorer Dimitri Oberlin was equivalent to his 20th assist in the current championship, which is now the sole record. Vincent Sierro had headed the home side 3-0 just 5 minutes earlier.

Bern Air Show in many ways

Otherwise it was YB that could switch and rule as it wanted. An impressive example of this was Jordan Siebatcheu’s brace in the first half. In both the 12th and 41st minutes, the Servettiens became extras on the pitch, the Bernese striker was able to take off twice and score with a header.

Berns Meschack Elia provided a different kind of air show in the 76th minute: when the score was 2-0 in favor of his team, the Congolese took off during a duel with goalie Jérémy Frick and pleaded for a penalty. Referee Sandro Schärer was not impressed by this and rightly showed Elia, who had already been warned, the yellow-red card.

Here’s how to proceed

Thanks to the recent success, the Bernese are in 3rd place in the table. YB can defend this next weekend when it makes a guest appearance in the Sion Tourbillon next Sunday afternoon. Kick-off is at 2:15 p.m. Already on Saturday Servette dueled at home with St. Gallen. You can see the game live from 8:10 p.m. on SRF Zwei and in the Sport App.
