How did the secret investigation file get to the public? This question has arisen since “Weltwoche” recently reported in great detail on the case of attempted blackmail against Federal Councilor Alain Berset (49). The former SVP National Councilor Christoph Mörgeli (61) quoted in his article from documents that are strictly under lock and key.
On the trail of the leak
The supervisory authority now uses a special investigator through the Federal Prosecutor’s Office (AB-BA) to find the leak. The Federal Prosecutor’s Office had previously filed a criminal complaint for breach of official secrecy. Because it cannot be ruled out that someone from the Federal Public Prosecutor’s Office or the Federal Office of Police (Fedpol) passed on the file.
It is not yet clear who will investigate the case. The AB-BA announced that a suitable person would be entrusted with the task as quickly as possible.
GPK is supposed to investigate
The blackmail case itself is legally closed. The woman who tried to blackmail Berset has been sentenced by a criminal order. It is said to be an earlier affair of the Federal Council. Berset had not wanted to comment on the case a year ago when the case became known. Even now he is silent.
In the “Weltwoche” the charge was made that Berset had settled his private matter at state expense. However, there is no tangible evidence of this. SVP National Councilor Alfred Heer (59) has now announced that he will bring the matter to the Business Audit Commission (GPK). (lha)
