Bertrand Peyret is appointed Deputy Secretary General of the Banque de France

(Boursier.com) — As of Monday, April 3, Bertrand Peyret is appointed Deputy Secretary General of the Banque de France, replacing Alexandre Gautier who becomes Deputy Director General of the General Directorate of Financial Stability and Operations (DGSO ). François Haas has been appointed Deputy Director General of the DGSO of the Banque de France and Head of the Financial Stability Unit. In this capacity, he joins the general management of the General Secretariat of the Prudential Supervisory and Resolution Authority (ACPR) as Deputy Secretary General. Finally, Evelyne Massé has also been appointed Deputy Secretary General of the ACPR.

Bertrand Peyret is a graduate of the Grenoble Institute of Political Studies, he joined the Banque de France in 1990, as head of the household over-indebtedness department. He served as an inspector at the Banque de France, then Director of Banking Control and Director of Insurance Control at the ACPR. From 2005 to 2006, he was the Banque de France’s representative at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He was a member of the group of high-level supervisors, chaired the HubGovernance group (G20 initiative, in 2008, on the remediation of data deficiencies to prevent crises). He chaired the Joint Committee (EBA, ESMA, EIOPA) on financial conglomerates from 2018 to 2022.
“I am leaving the ACPR after 11 rich years of supervising banks and insurance companies, going through profound institutional changes and punctuated by strong moments in terms of supervision. I am joining the General Secretariat of the Banque de France with great enthusiasm, where other challenges await me, and where openness to Europe will remain a constant” recalled Bertrand Peyret.

Alexandre Gautier has been appointed Deputy Director General of Financial Stability and Operations (DGSO). A graduate of ESCP and Dauphine University, he also teaches banking economics at the University of Paris I Panthéon Sorbonne. He worked for the ACPR as a capital markets specialist after working for 2 years at the Paris Stock Exchange.
He then joined the trading room of the Banque de France as manager of currency and gold reserves, before taking responsibility for the Risk Department and then that of deputy director of market operations. In 2009, he was appointed Director of Post-Trade Activities before becoming Director of Markets in 2012. Since July 2018, Alexandre Gautier was Deputy Secretary General of the Banque de France in charge of Finance and Socially Responsible Investment.

“I am returning with enthusiasm to market operations after almost 5 years as Deputy Secretary General in charge of finance at the Banque de France. The deployment of an ambitious Socially Responsible Investor strategy, on equity and the pension fund , was an exciting, necessary and recognized collective experience. In my new role, I will continue to strongly support the climate issues anchored at the heart of the action of the Central Banks” recalled Alexandre Gautier.
