“Bridgerton” romance goes real life: Actors Bessie Carter and Sam Phillips are a couple outside of the series.
A touch of “Bridgerton” romance has apparently been passed on to the actors of the Netflix hit. In the third season of the series, Sam Philipps (40) plays Lord Debling, who has his eye on Penelope Featherington (Nicola Coughlan, 37). In real life, however, the actor is apparently much more interested in her series sister Prudence, played by Bessie Carter (30).
Joint red carpet appearances
There have been indications that the Brits are a couple for some time. They have already appeared together on the red carpet at events four times. The couple made their debut in March 2023 at the premiere of “A Little Life” in London’s West End, and in May they attended another theater event. In November they even posed together with Carter’s mother Imelda Staunton (68) when they accompanied her husband Jim Carter (75) to the premiere of the film “Wonka”.
Just a few weeks later, Bessie Carter and Sam Phillips presented themselves together again to the photographers at the closing ceremony of the sixth season of “The Crown”, this time with Jim Carter. This Netflix hit is also a family affair: In the series about the British royals, Staunton played Queen Elizabeth II (1926-2022) in the last two seasons, while Philipps took on the role of a soldier in seasons three and four.
