Coach Jürgen Klopp’s team is still badly hit by injuries. But that doesn’t necessarily have to be bad news: two 18-year-olds are celebrating their first professional goals and Liverpool FC are celebrating their place in the next round of the FA Cup.

Football coach Jürgen Klopp can continue to hope for the next of four possible titles in his final season with Liverpool FC. Three days after winning the League Cup, the leaders of the English Premier League moved into the quarter-finals of the prestigious FA Cup. The Reds won 3-0 (1-0) against second division club Southampton FC in their round of 16 at Anfield Road on Wednesday evening.

As in the League Cup, Klopp, whose team has been complaining about bad luck with injuries for weeks, sent a young team onto the field. And so it was 18-year-old striker Lewis Koumas who took the lead for the hosts in the 44th minute on his professional debut. The second goal was also scored by an 18-year-old: Jayden Danns, who came on for Koumas in the 63rd minute (73rd/88th minute), made the final score with a brace. For the young player, these were also his first goals with the professionals.

This was a dream come true for the young Danns. “I couldn’t be happier today. Today is the best day of my life,” he told the BBC. “I’ve been watching Liverpool since I was a child and scoring a goal in the Kop End is more than a dream. I couldn’t be happier.”

Chelsea FC, who were still behind in the cup against Liverpool, won 3-2 (2-1) at home against Leeds United from the Championship. But the favorite had to tremble, Conor Gallagher only scored the winning goal in the 90th minute.

Manchester United won 1-0 (0-0) at league rivals Nottingham Forest thanks to a late goal from Casemiro (89th). Meanwhile, German national player Pascal Groß has been eliminated. With Brighton and Hove Albion, the midfielder lost 1-0 away to Wolverhampton Wanderers.
