Best OnePlus smartphones 2022: which model to buy?

In 2022, OnePlus smartphones are an excellent alternative to Samsung, Apple or Google smartphones. They are placed directly in the range of high-end devices with a contained price not exceeding 1000 €. In this buying guide, we offer you a concentrate of the best OnePlus smartphones that are worth a detour.

Our selection of the best OnePlus smartphones

OnePlus remains a very popular manufacturer even if its premium smartphones have long since broken with its starting guideline. That of offering top-of-the-range models at prices accessible to the greatest number. But in the meantime, the arrival of the OnePlus Nord range has somewhat corrected the situation.

So you have the choice between two main lines. The OnePlus 10 Pro is the most recent representative of the manufacturer’s range of premium models. And if they seem too expensive to you, you can fall back on the OnePlus Nord 2, a mid-range model that offers great advantages for a much lower price. But that’s not all: discover all the options available in our selection of the best OnePlus smartphones in 2022.

OnePlus 10 Pro: the ultra high-end of OnePlus

Released in March 2022, the brand new OnePlus 10 Pro is equipped with the latest Qualcomm processor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1. The design of this flagship is very successful with its superb aluminum shell and its large ceramic photo module. The 6.7-inch AMOLED screen is simply the best on the market. The photo module is very versatile since it offers 3 sensors: a main 48 megapixel, an ultra wide-angle 50 megapixel and an x3.3 telephoto 8 megapixel. The XPAN function even allows you to do a real panorama in a single shot.

The OnePlus 10 Pro is the first OnePlus device to get OxygenOS version 12.1. Without revolutionizing the previous version, which was already excellent, this overlay notably offers better privacy management.
Autonomy, a big weak point of the OnePlus 9 Pro, has been improved. OnePlus even provides an 80 Watt SuperVOOC charger with its smartphone and the device charges wirelessly at 50 Watts.

The +The –
Attractive designNo big improvement compared to the OnePlus 9 Pro
The best screen on the marketPhoto module improving but not yet up to expectations
Improved autonomy and fast chargingSmartphone that tends to heat up with greedy games
Well worked overlay

With its OnePlus 9 and 9 Pro, the Chinese firm has produced powerful smartphones with premium features. The Pro version has a 6.7-inch curved AMOLED display and the standard version has a 6.55-inch flat AMOLED display. Both versions feature the SnapDragon 888 processor, which is powerful enough to run any game smoothly. At the level of the photo module, the 2 devices benefit from the partnership with the Hasselblad camera brand. They both have a standard 48-megapixel lens, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens, and an anecdotal 2-megapixel monochrome lens. The OnePlus 9 Pro is more versatile with an 8-megapixel x3.3 telephoto lens.

They run on Android with the OxygenOS overlay, one of the best thought out and enjoyable in the sector. On the other hand, the autonomy proves to be too weak. Fortunately, the device recharges quickly thanks to the 65 Watts recharge.

The OnePlus 8T is the oldest premium model marketed by OnePlus but it has qualities that still make it an attractive option, especially with its much more attractive price.
Released at the end of 2020, this model convinced us at the time with its impressive technical data sheet. A year and a half later, the features remain attractive with a SnapDragon 865 processor, 5G compatibility, 65 Watts fast charging and a 6.55-inch 120Hz AMOLED screen. With its specifications, the OnePlus 8T is therefore a serious competitor to modern mid-range models with a design and manufacturing quality worthy of a flagship.

It will still be necessary to accept some concessions such as the photo module which does not have a telephoto sensor or the autonomy not at the level of the competition.
