Bethesda Softworks: a big upheaval in the publisher’s executive with the announcement of a departure

Here is an announcement that we clearly did not expect and which is surprising concerning Bethesda Softworks. Indeed, we learn that Pete Hines will be retiring from the video game industry and is therefore leaving the company after 24 years of good and loyal servicehe who joined it in October 1999. He held the position of Senior Vice President of Global Marketing and Communications before adding to its title Head of Publishing last year, and we therefore often had the opportunity to see him or read his statements when a game from the publisher was concerned, as for Starfieldwhich will therefore have been its last big launch.

This is what he said about Twitter :

After 24 years, I have decided that my time at Bethesda Softworks is coming to an end. I am retiring and will begin an exciting new chapter in my life exploring my interests and passions, volunteering my time where I can, and taking more time to enjoy life. It’s not a decision I made easily or quickly, but after an incredible career, culminating with the incredible launch of Starfield, I feel like the time is right.

This is definitely not goodbye. My love for Bethesda and its people has never wavered, and I will never stop being a part of this incredible community we have grown. Thank you to the hundreds and thousands of fans I have met and spoken with over the past 24 years. Your energy, creativity and support have played such an important role in my journey. I can’t wait to live the rest of the adventure alongside you.

Working with the amazing people, teams, and studios at Bethesda has been the greatest experience of my life. I’m incredibly proud of everything we’ve done together and I can’t wait to see the amazing things they create next.

I love you guys,
Pete
