Betrayal, season 3 of Bridgerton is coming in too long

Season 3 of Bridgerton is scheduled for 2024 on Netflix and will be divided into two parts. The broadcast date has been postponed.

The Bridgerton Chronicles is one of the most popular series in Netflix history. After only two seasons, the third is eagerly awaited. It is even more so since it has been forever since fans have had new episodes to sink their teeth into. There was certainly Queen Charlottein 2023, but when is season 3 of the main series scheduled?

It’s the twitter account of the series which revealed it on December 11, changing its logo and its header. Strangely, a few hours later the new header was took of in turn, erasing the dates. A teasing technique? It seems unlikely to plead error on this account.

Here is the header that was temporarily put online:

Bridgerton season 3 in 2 parts and a distant date

This header (official, even if it has become inaccessible) tells us that season 3 of Bridgerton would be divided into two parts:

  • Part 1: May 16, 2024
  • Part 2: June 13, 2024

It is not impossible – but it is a hypothesis – that this division into two parts supposes for the first time a season of 10 episodes, instead of 8. To be confirmed, however. These dates are in any case distant, especially because the release window initially mentioned was for the end of the year – around December. This seemed all the more imminent as filming and even most of post-production had ended… in the spring of 2023, as confirmed by the producer herself, Shonda Rhimes. However, even if the information went relatively unnoticed, a first delay in the broadcast was mentioned last October, by actress Adjoa Andoh.

Why such a delay?

How can we explain a broadcast delay even though the series is ready? The reason is probably the same as Dune 2 : the screenwriters’ and actors’ strikes, which paralyzed Hollywood and streaming production. Some works were not affected in their filming and production process, but pushed back regardless.

In fact, two reasons combine:

  • The actors and actresses on strike did not promote the series and films, which greatly reduced the potential media impact. However, the end date of the strike remained unpredictable – it finally ended at the end of last November. The highly anticipated works were postponed for safety reasons — from Bridgerton in SVOD at Dune 2 At the movie theater.
  • As filming was interrupted or slowed down, the entire schedule was turned upside down. Thus, a streaming service like Netflix had to reorganize series and films in the long term.

Certainly, you would surely have liked to taste the romantic lightness of Bridgerton during the holidays… But the colorful atmosphere of the series will be just as suited to the shimmering spring of May.
