Returning for a few episodes in the final season of “Better Call Saul”, Aaron Paul has announced that he will no longer play Jesse Pinkman, the role that revealed him in the series “Breaking Bad”.
You will never hear his “Dick!” nor his “Bitch!”. In an interview given to HollywoodReporterAaron Paul announced that he would never play Jesse Pinkman again, the role that revealed him to the general public in the series Breaking Bad, which he also interpreted in the film El Camino then in the final season of the prequel Better Call Saul.
While the creator of the two series Vince Gilligan has announced his intention to devote himself henceforth to other projects, Aaron Paul – who recently inaugurated a statue bearing the likeness of Jesse Pinkman in the city of Albuquerque – also seems determined to leave behind the role of a lifetime:
Jesse Pinkman will forever have a special place in my heart, but I can say with certainty that Better Call Saul marks his very last appearance. It was a nice way to say goodbye to him.
If he does not mention specific reasons for this decision, the age of the actor (42 years old) certainly explains why it no longer seems reasonable to continue to play a character supposed to be only in his twenties.
The director of the series Thomas Schnauz has also explained during an interview why it was decided not to “rejuvenate” Aaron Paul, although the scene is supposed to take place several years in the past.
