Rumors are starting to intensify around the next smartphone of Apple and allow you to draw a first robot portrait.

The iPhone 16 should only be presented in September 2024, but everything suggests that Apple’s teams are already hard at work developing their new range of smartphones. Indeed, the final design and technical characteristics must be finalized before spring, in order to carry out production tests, then to manufacture the millions of copies which will fill the Apple Stores from the next school year. Obviously, and like every year, rumors are rife to determine what new features Apple will bring to the next iPhone.

A18 processors for the entire range

To start this new year 2024, it is an analyst named Jeff Pu who gives us some first details on the components of this iPhone 16 already eagerly awaited by fans of the brand.

It is already accepted that Apple will once again release four iPhones, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus, accompanied by the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max. The iPhone 16 should feature a brand new processor, the A18, engraved at 3nm. Apple would change strategy and no longer recycle the previous year’s processor for these mainstream models.

The Pro models would feature an A18 Pro processor, a little more powerful, and 8 GB of RAM (i.e. 2 GB more than the current iPhone 15 Pro).

The iPhone 16 Pro would also have the Qualcomm X75 modem, which would provide support for 5G Advanced. This new standard is the natural evolution of 5G, with a theoretical throughput of 10 Gbit/s compared to 1 Gbit/s for simple 5G, reduced latency and energy consumption reduced by around 20% according to the manufacturer. The iPhone 16 and 16 Plus will be satisfied with the Qualcomm X70 which equips the iPhone 15 range today but would benefit from Wi-Fi 6E compatibility.

Jeff Pu finally mentions support for Wi-Fi 7 by Pro models, but remains cautious on the subject. The standard was recently made official by the Wi-Fi Alliance, and should begin to appear on several devices. Apple, however, is known for its caution, and could wait another year or two before taking the plunge.

A new 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle sensor that becomes clearer day after day

The iPhone 16 Pro would also see an improvement in its photo block, with the adoption of an ultra-wide-angle sensor which would increase to 48 megapixels compared to 12 megapixels currently. The rumor also mentions the adoption of the new 5x telescopic sensor for the iPhone 16 Pro, and which would no longer only be reserved for the largest format.

For the rest, the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro should not receive a notable design change, and would remain very close to the current models. We are still talking about larger screens, with a 6.3-inch panel for the iPhone 16 and 16 Pro, and 6.9 inches for the Pro models.

See you in the coming weeks for a new batch of rumors which should teach us even more about what awaits us in September with the iPhone 16.
