The first rumors about the new generation of graphics cards NVIDIA focus on consumption.

Although some vagueness still surrounds NVIDIA’s schedule, it’s fairly certain that the Ada Lovelace generation graphics cards will arrive this fall.

A TDP of more than 220 Watts?

While many questions arise around the capabilities of the GeForce RTX 4000, the very informed Kopite7kimi mentions the TDP of the RTX 4060: it would be higher than that of the RTX 3070, certified for 220 Watts.

In fact, the RTX 4060 would therefore have a higher TDP, which would widen a consistent gap with the comparable model on the current generation: the RTX 3060 is at 170 Watts. Of course, as Kopite7kimi points out, the question of performance arises for such a TDP.

For their part, our colleagues from Videocardz take the opportunity to recall the evolutions of TDP over the generations. The RTX 4060 would mark an unprecedented increase:

  • GeForce RTX 4060: 220W+ (rumored)
  • GeForce RTX 3060: 170W
  • GeForce RTX 2060: 160W
  • GeForce GTX 1060: 120W
  • GeForce GTX 960: 120W
  • GeForce GTX 760: 170W
