beware of the surtax number scam

Are you looking for help to complete your income tax return and you come across a site randomly on the web inviting you to dial a number in 08 to contact the tax authorities? Go your way! The DGFiP warns against this premium number scam.

Some websites link to surcharged numbers (in 0899… or 0891…) to contact our Public Finance Centers. Those are fraudulent numbers. The DGFiP is doing everything to have them closed. This alert message appears prominently on impots.gouv.fr.

If it is necessary to retain a single and unique number in 08 for the taxes, it is the unique non-surcharged number (price of a local call) 0809401401 operated by the Directorate General of Public Finances (DGFiP). The tax administration explains that in addition to this single number, the only numbers used by the Public Treasury are ordinary telephone numbers for local calls (in 01, 02, 03, 04 or 05) which are those of the public finance centers local.
