The Carte Vitale scam, which has been very widespread lately, can take several forms. Health Insurance gives its advice to avoid being taken in by these scammers in search of personal data.
MoneyVox alerted you to the subject a few weeks ago: the Vitale card scam is more and more used by fisherfolk to collect your personal data (password, identifier, social security number or even bank details…) It is now the second most widespread scam in France, still behind that of the false email to the summons for child pornography, explained in an article in the Parisian Jrme Notin, Managing Director of the Cybermalveillance.gouv.fr platform.
A scam that takes many forms

L’Assurance Maladie also warns users by denouncing another mode of scam: During a telephone call presenting itself as coming from L’Assurance Maladie, the sender of the call will leave a message on your answering machine asking you call your CPAM at a number other than 3646. Its purpose is to get you to call a heavily surcharged number. in order to extract money from you indirectly.
L’Assurance Maladie reminds you that you should not follow up on this call, and that the only number to reach the CPAM is 3646 (free service + cost of the call). Whether by phone or by email, the Health Insurance will never ask you for your tax number or your login details. To combat fraud, Parliament adopted, as part of the draft amending budget for 2022, a measurement aiming to replace the current electronic vital card with a biometric one. A budget of 20 million euros has thus been released, to launch the implementation of a biometric Vitale card from autumn 2022.
