It was Vorwerk, the German manufacturer of the famous food processor, who alerted its customers to this risk associated with its product.

The Thermomix is an indispensable tool today for many kitchens around the world. A revolutionary machine to facilitate recipes and considerably reduce the time spent cooking. Unfortunately, there is a flaw in this tool which Vorwerkthe German manufacturer of the famous robot, alerts us today.

The company warned its customers, who have a TM6 type Thermomix, to no longer use the measuring cup for cooking at 95°C or more. Indeed, if the measuring cup of this model, which attaches firmly to the lid of the mixing bowl, is designed to allow a sufficient amount of steam present in the mixing bowl to escape during cooking or simmering , “during the cooking process or following certain recipes, the ingredients can float on the surface, compress and prevent the steam from escaping“, explains the manufacturer in a press release.

What’s the risk ?

Increased pressure can build up in the mixing bowl during cooking or simmering (or heating to temperatures of 95°C and above)which can lead to a sudden and uncontrolled overflow of hot food, which in some cases can cause burns“, writes Vorwerk. The risk is increased if the filling limit of the bowl indicated on the user manual is exceeded. This is 2.2 liters for the TM6 and TM5 models.
In order to overcome this defect and avoid burning yourselfthe simmering basket should always be used instead of the TM6 measuring cup for temperatures above 95°C. food from the mixing bowl.
