Beyond Good and Evil 2: phew, the game is still in development

The year 2023 has started badly for Ubisoft. The studio announced that sales of Mario + Rabbids: Sparks of Hope and Just Dance 2023 weren’t good, he canceled three as-yet-unannounced projects and pushed back again Skull and Bones. Fortunately, big games are expected in the coming months.

The studio reassured investors and fans by recalling thatAvatar: Frontiers of Pandora and Assassin’s Creed: Mirage will arrive this year, as well as games not yet announced. But other titles already unveiled are still missing, such as Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time Remake and Beyond Good and Evil 2, which is long overdue. The title recently has the record for the longest vaporware : announced in 2008, it has been waiting for more than 5,200 days, doing worse than Duke Nukem Foreverdeveloped between 1997 and 2011.

Beyond Good and Evil 2 made another notable appearance at theE3 2017 with an impressive trailer, but since then, Michel Ancel left the middle of the video game and had delivered on this long and chaotic development. A few months later, things hadn’t changed, cancellation rumors were swirling, but theinsider Tom Henderson said last year that development was continuing with internal testing.

We are now in 2023, and where is BGE2 ? Well, still at the same stage, but this time, he is a spokesperson forUbisoft who speaks by affirming to Eurogamer :

The development of Beyond Good and Evil 2 is ongoing and the team is working hard to deliver on its ambitious promise.

Here, we are not more advanced, but at least, Beyond Good and Evil 2 is not abandoned. The title is expected on a date still unknown, on platforms that will probably change by the time of release. You can find the first part at €4.99 on GOG.com.
