Roof tents offer numerous advantages. Unlike an expensive motorhome that may sit unused in the parking lot most of the year, it can be quickly mounted and dismantled on the car roof. It is only used during vacation times; The base vehicle remains fully usable as a normal everyday car.

For a long time, roof tents were very similar. That has changed fundamentally in recent years. The trend towards inflatable roof tents has made new shapes possible. And even “roof tents for the trailer hitch” already exist, for example from Thule. The innovation from the Danish manufacturer Fjordsen presented here, on the other hand, relies on a popping pole, which allows a generous height of 1.40 meters inside the tent.
The setup should be completed within two minutes. The outward curving construction maximizes interior space. The largest version of the roof tent offers an impressive volume of 6.3 cubic meters. There is space for two adults and two children on an area of 2.20 x 2.20 meters. Of course – bigger is always possible, as is the case with the campsite king version of this roof tent.
The airy construction has the disadvantage that it offers a large surface area for the wind to attack. It is not without reason that other roof tents and pop-up roofs can be easily aligned with the wind. That is not possible here.
According to the manufacturer, when folded up on the car roof, the roof tent takes up an area of 220 x 110 x 35 centimeters. The weight is stated as 54 kilograms.

The Beyond X series is available in different designs and sizes. The small two-person version costs 1,349 euros. The large version presented above costs 1,899 euros.
