The football fan Sebastian Bezzel and his friend Simon Schwarz realize how difficult it is to hit the goal – if you are visually impaired. With the help of special glasses that severely limit their field of vision, they get a rough idea of how Yasser and Christina must be feeling. The two are severely visually impaired and yet part of a football team. On this day in Veitshöchheim, Lower Franconia, Simon and Sebastian learn a lot about team spirit and enjoying sports.
Bringing homeless people back to a normal life is what Brother Martin has made his life’s work. The trained nurse, who is with the Franciscans but not a monk, has created a refuge for people in need in Offenbau in central Franconia. Simon and Sebastian spend a day there and learn that the men and women who find a temporary safe haven here often have to relearn the most everyday things, such as eating together or adhering to certain times: Requirements for a Return to a reasonably settled life.
Cultivation of papayas in Upper Franconia? Simon Schwarz and Sebastian Bezzel can hardly believe that. But this is exactly what is possible in a tropical house in Tettau. With the help of waste heat from a nearby glass company, the scientific facility is used to research the cultivation of a wide variety of exotic fruits, among other things. Ralf Schmitt, manager of the tropical house, uses Simon and Sebastian to harvest campaigns, explains the sustainable concept behind the project to them and introduces them to a special local resident.
