BFMTV: the channel anticipates the climate emergency with a docu-fiction broadcast this evening

Bruce Toussaint is still there, on set, but with more wrinkles and white hair. He is surrounded by several journalists from the channel, who are also getting old. Do not panic, your television does not suffer from a strange bug! The news channel has in fact produced an anticipation programme, “2050: let’s open our eyes!”, imagining a broadcast in 2050. This was created to talk about the climate and more specifically carbon neutrality. Two situations were studied: first, a positive scenario, where we would have succeeded in achieving carbon neutrality in 2050. The second is much less optimistic.

In the first, viewers will discover through fake sets, fake reports, fake direct, how we got there… what measures had to be taken. In the second, the negative, they will see the reverse of the failure of climate policy, without carbon neutrality, in particular to understand the consequences on our lives. What do these look like? How are they impacted by different climatic disturbances? Answer this Monday evening at 8:50 p.m. on BFMTV.

A work of fiction but based on scientific projections

To protect itself from potential disoriented viewers, the news channel took several precautions when the docu-fiction was announced. Indeed, BFMTV wants it to be clear to viewers that this is not a real special, but a screening in 2050, with, for example, an interview with Greta Thunberg’s daughter. “And then, what is important to clarify is that it is not pure fiction. It is journalistic work, because everything is based on scientific projections. It took several months of work to achieve this result with a real issue of credibility”, specifies Myriam Alma, editor-in-chief of the show.

Finally, after the broadcast, back in 2022. Élisabeth Borne, the Prime Minister, will be invited by the channel and questioned on the government’s policy on the question of ecology.
