Biathlon in Antholz – liberation! Hauser and Eder on the Stockerl

Lisa Hauser and Simon Eder achieved a breakthrough at the Biathlon World Cup in Antholz with third place in the single mixed relay. The duo, which had already won twice in the non-Olympic discipline in 2017, only had to bow to Germany and Norway on Saturday in South Tyrol.

After four shooting errors, Hauser/Eder were 28.3 seconds behind the confident winners Vanessa Voigt and Justus Strelow in the first ÖSV podium of the winter with only one missed target. Goalkeeper Eder was 17th behind the second-placed Ingrid Landmark Tandrevold and Vetle Sjaastad Christiansen. 1 seconds. “I was worried that I would have to face a tough final lap, but luckily there were only two of us left. On the last lap I just ran at my pace from the start, secured third place and was able to enjoy it all a bit,” said the veteran. “Really cool.” Former world champion Hauser was also relieved. “Of course, on a day like this you have to have the necessary luck and for us personally it is of course great that we can stand on the podium again. We knew we had outside chances today, so it’s just really cool that we made it to the podium,” said Hauser. Afterwards, the mixed four-man relay was also on the program. No ÖSV representative is qualified for the mass starts on Sunday, the last races before the World Championships in Nove Mesto in February, due to poor performances this season. Single-Mixed: 1.
