WASHINGTON (Reuters) – US President Joe Biden on Friday described the Houthis as a “terrorist” group, which controls part of Yemen and which the US and British armies bombed overnight.

The United States and Britain presented the strikes as retaliation for attacks launched by the Houthis, a movement affiliated with Iran, against commercial ships sailing in the Red Sea. The Houthis say they are doing this in support of the Palestinians in the Gaza Strip facing Israel.

Joe Biden said the United States would respond again if the Houthis persist in their actions.
