(Reuters) – Joe Biden had a small skin lesion removed last month that a biopsy showed was cancerous in nature, White House physician Kevin O’Connor said on Friday.

“All cancerous tissue was successfully removed,” said the doctor, who said no further treatment is needed, although the health of the 80-year-old President of the United States will continue to be monitored.

The lesion removed on February 16 “has no tendency to spread or metastasize,” added Kevin O’Connor, declaring Joe Biden “good for service” in a letter released by the White House.
